When first tasked with making my game I wanted to make something which you could play at home as it would be able to relate with current day events and how we have to isolate at the moment. This is where my idea for Capture-19 was created. Culture-19 is obviously a play in words with COVID-19. I also however wanted to base my game off of our work on "the are of instruction", this is where i came up with the concept of my game.
The idea of my game is that there are 3 teams, therefore my game requires a minimum of 3 players. Each team is tasked with one room in a house, the bathroom, the kitchen and the bedroom. Each team has its own set of of coloured cards which matches the room in which they are tasked with. From here a timer is then set and the first team to complete all 6 photography tasks wins. An example of one of the tasks could be "take an action shot of you using an item in your kitchen", or "take an image which represents your morning routine"
To create my game i first took the example images which would be on the back of the cards By doing this I was practically testing and playing the game myself as I was completing all the tasks and taking my own images. Here is where I found how some of the tasks on my tasks can take quite a long to figure out and to think of a creative idea. I then printed then and stuck them onto the back of flashcards. then on the front of the cards i wrote the instruction to match. I tried to make the instructions as clear as I could and I think I did a good job as when I read them out to the class of how to play everyone seemed to get the idea. After this i wrote the instructions that would go with the game. Finally the last thing to do was to make the box. this took the longest time as it required a lot of patience. I printed out an example net from google to help then assembled the box with card. It was very difficult to get the card to hold together so i had to use small bits of tape which was very fiddly and frustrating.
After presenting my game to the class i overall got a good response with one of my key praises being the title of my game. However in agreement with me we suggested that the presentation, particularly the box could have been improved.
Overall i think the concept, title and overall idea of my game was good however the presentation could of been a lot better as it became a little unstuck and bent whilst on the way to school. So if i were to make my game again i would improve on my box making skills.
